|TUT Rise as One in Rwanda
Rwanda - The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) left the country on the 17 March 2017 to participate at the 3rd FASU Cross Country Championships in Kigali. The TUT team consisted of five males, four females, one coach and a team manager. The students from Tshwane needed to participate in this Championships in an effort to test its strenght against the World Renowed middle and long distance athletes from Kenya which was one of the participating countries. The event took place in the morning of the 18 March 2017 at the Kigali Golf Course in Rwanda and was attened by the FISU President Mr. Oleg Matytsin.
The event was divided into the 6km, 10km and 12km and the students from TUT competed in all catergories and achieved medal positions. The runners from Kenya proved to be a serious challenge for the runners from Tshwane who were awarded the overall team position based on their overall performance and number of medals achieved. The students from TUT are still on their journey in achieving the set qualification times for the 29th Summer Universiade and to test themselves against the best in Africa and the World was excactly what they needed.
